Free Legal Aid in Phoenix

If you live in the Valley of the Sun, chances are you are thankful for air conditioning on a regular basis. But when you’re faced with a legal problem and can’t afford an attorney, it may start to feel like someone’s turning up the heat. Fortunately, there are several legal aid organizations in the Phoenix area that may be able to help. Legal aid groups like Community Legal Services and Chicanos Por La Causa provide low-cost legal help for issues have identified the main areas where Phoenicians need low-cost legal help, and they offer a broad range of services to meet those needs. Other organizations target needs for specific groups, like senior services or disability services. Check out the organizations below to see how they can help you with your legal issue.

  • Community Legal Services, Inc. Central Phoenix Office

    Community Legal Services is a not-for-profit law firm that offers many types of legal services to low-income individuals and communities in Central Arizona and especially in Maricopa County. The firm’s central office is located in Phoenix and provides assistance with practice areas such as family law, public benefits, employment issues, consumer protection, housing problems, and farm worker assistance.

  • Chicanos Por Law Causa, Inc. (CPLC)

    Chicanos Por La Causa was originally founded to address the needs of poor Hispanic communities in Phoenix, but it has expanded its operations to low-income individuals and communities across Arizona. Its social services programs offer help with certain legal issues, including immigrations, elder services, and housing.

    Catholic Charities Community Services provides counseling and services to those in need in areas such as counseling, domestic violence, foster care, housing and homelessness, immigration and refugee resettlement, poverty reduction, pregnancy and adoption; Sex Trafficking; and Youth Advocacy and Development.

    The Florence Project is a nonprofit organization that gives free legal services to immigrants detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Arizona. If you know a detainee and have questions, visit the Florence Project’s FAQ-If you know a detainee page for more information.

  • Family Lawyer’s Assistance Project (FLAP)

    FLAP offers free intake sessions to low-income people representing themselves in family court. There is a $40 fee per intake session for those who are above the poverty line.

  • Arizona Center for Disability Law (ACDL)

    The ACDL is a nonprofit organization commissioned by the federal government to give people with disabilities in Arizona support for their legal problems, including denial of benefits, abuse, discrimination and violations of rights.
